FOURTH GRADE ASSIGNMENTS – APRIL 27 – May 1LANGUAGE ARTS AND RELIGION

Parents and students,

Thank you so much for your hard work these past weeks.  Most assignments have been turned in and I can tell that the children are trying to keep up.  Parents, you have been great.  I really appreciate your patience as we have worked through this new way of learning.   Students, I am really proud of all of you.   Progress reports will go home again next week.

CURSIVE HANDWRITING -  Practice your cursive. 

RELIGION  -  Chapter 14 “Penance and Reconciliation” (We may have gone over this chapter in Dec. However, we will review it.)  If  you did not complete the activities please do the following this week

Read the lessons and complete the activities for each day. Do not turn in

Wed.: pgs.216 - 217

Thurs.: 218 and 220 (You do not have to do page 219.)

 Fri.: pgs.   2211 – 222.   You do not need to turn this in.

 

WORDLY WISE  - Lesson 14

Mon.:  Review first seven words pages 161 - 162

Tue.: Practice last eight words on pages 162 – 163  You can practice on line any time.

Wed.:  Complete Activity 14A on pages 163 - 164

 Thurs.: Activity 14B on page 165

Fri.:  Activity 14C pages 166 - 167

READING:   

Mon.:  Read the story “My Adopted Grandpa”   –   Read AR

Tue.  Work on the first section of IXL  “Reading Strategies” -  You will have a grade based on this section for reading. Try to do three of the highlighted skills a week.

 Wed.:  Reread the story “My Adopted Grandpa”   – Complete study/skill sheet in google classroom. Read AR

Thurs.:  Work in IXL – especially the highlighted sections of the “Reading Strategies    Read AR

Fri.:  Write a paragraph/short story about someone you know who is special to you.  This person might be an aunt or an uncle, a grandmother or grandfather, a neighbor or friend.  Tell something this person and why they are special to you.  Try to write at least ten sentences. Be sure you have a beginning sentence and an ending sentence.

 

ENGLISH:  You will be studying and using the various forms of verbs.

Try to do at least three of the highlighted skills in the “Grammar and Mechanics” section each week.   Work in the  sections HH, KK, NN,OO

Mon.:  Irregular verbs pages  118 119  – Complete the exercises in google classroom

Tue.:  Irregular verbs pages 120 -121 -  Complete the exercises in google classroom

Wed.: – Simple present tense verbs – pages 122 -123  Complete the exercises in google classroom 

Thurs.: – Past tense verbs  pgs. 124 – 125   Complete exercises in google classroom

Fri.: Get caught up with any work you have not completed.  Work on the verb section of IXL

 

SPELLING – Unit 31 Spelling plural nouns

Monday- Study the words on page 240 and do page 241 orally – you do not have to write the answers.

 Tuesday Pages 242 and 243 –Orally – do not write on paper –do not turn in

Wednesday -  page 244 – 245 – Do not write on paper  - just practice to yourself

Thursday –  pgs. 246 – 247 – Read and do the exercises to yourself – not on paper

Friday – Quiz today

Read “I’m the Big Sister Now”.This is a story about a family that has a child who is physically and mentally disabled.  The girl’s sister wrote the story.

Fri.:  Read the story a second time.  Read AR

FOURTH GRADE ASSIGNMENTS – APRIL 14-17

RELIGION  - Everyone received an “A” for the section on Easter. I hope everyone completed that section from last weeks assignment.

This week we go back to complete Unit 3 on the Holy Spirit.

Tuesday:  Page 194  Complete this on the google clsssroom site.  You do not have to do this in the book since it is in google classroom.  Use your book to find the answers.  Use Chapters 9, 10, 11, and 12.

Wednesday: page 195:  Put the answers on the space provided in google classroom.

Thursday:  page 196  - put the answers in the space provided in google classroom

Friday:  Get all of your assignments turned in.

WORDLY WISE  - Lesson 13

Tuesday Apr. 14    Study the first eight words on pages 150 and 151

Wednesday Apr. 15.  Study the last seven words on pages 151-152

Thursday:  Complete Activity 13A on pages 152, 153, 154.  Use complete sentences.  Answers will be in google classroom on Friday.

Friday :  Activit;y 13B on page154

READING:    You will be reading a realistic fiction story – “Yagua Days” by Jerry Pinkney.  The story has a Spanish word list with definitions on pges 79 and 80  Study those words  so you will be prepared to read the story.

Tuesday: Read one chapter in an AR book.   Write vocabulary words in your spiral: 

          drizzle,    Puerto Rico,    ledge,     machete,    grove,     mosquito net

Wednesday:  Read the story to yourself or to someone else. Part of the story takes place in New York City, but most of it takes place in Puerto Rico where Adan and his family have traveled to visit relatives.  Use context clues to figure out words you may not know.  Be able to tell how Adan figured out what a Yagua Day is.

Thursday:  Read the story a second time.  Read AR if you have time.

Friday:  There will be some questions to answer in google classroom.  Test on the story next week.  Read AR.  If you have not taken an AR test this quarter, please finish your book and log in from the school web site to take a test. 

ENGLISH:  You will be studying and using the various forms of verbs.   Work on the highlighted sections of Language Arts in IXL.

Tuesday:  Action verbs – pages 106 – 107  Complete Exercise 1 and Exercise 2 in google classroom on the form provided.

Wednesday.  Being verbs – pages 108-109  Complete Ex. 1, 2, and 3 in google classroom on the form provide

Students need to Read in their AR book each day.  They log the page they are on each day in their agenda.  Most students are close to completing their AR goal.
