Welcome to Middle School Science!

Homework is posted on my board weekly.  It is the student's responsibility to write homework in his/her agenda.

Please check student's Google classroom account regularly.  Many assignments are located online and may be accessed at home.

Bring science fair experiment data/results to class on December 2nd!

Students will complete a science fair project this year. It will count for 30% of the science grade. Students will complete most assignments in Google Classroom. They will use computers in class to make revisions to their research plan. I will help students choose a research question, write a hypothesis, prepare a research plan, analyze data and write a conclusion. The English teachers (Ms. Glasgow and Mrs. Davis) will assist in researching the variables and background about the research question. The experiment portion and science fair board must be completed outside of class time. Whenever any work is done on the science fair at home, please save it electronically to the student’s Google account. There are registration forms which need to be completed and signed. It is easier to have all the forms completed early than to wait until the science fair, due to registration deadlines.

Science Fair Timeline
***August, we are brainstorming topic ideas and beginning a research plan. All projects must be approved in advance by the science teacher by August 29.
***September, we will research the topic and clarify the procedure.
***September-November – please complete the experiment at home and collect data. If possible, repeat the experiment.
***October, we will research the independent and dependent variables.
***November, we will finalize edits to research plans and complete applicable forms.
***December, we will analyze the data and create graphs.

It is important to have all materials and allow time to complete the experiment by late November. Students will be responsible for bringing final data (measurements) to school in December to complete data analysis and to write a conclusion.

The science fair board will be due January 7, 2020.
